The question today is what if the U.S. legalized marijuana? Lets stop for a moment and pretend that the government devised a way that U.S. citizens could grow their own pot and they could still get money. Maybe they decided that you could purchase a growers card and had to have a business license to have a legal pot farm. So now jobs don’t care if you have THC coursing through your system anymore but they treat it just the same as alcohol (Which is worse IMO).
Would this lead the U.S. population down a path where there are fewer suicides each day and less stress at home? Would this lead everyone down a path that would turn most Americans into lazy rocks that sit in front of their television and vegetate their lives away? Would this move a lot away from the troubles of alcoholism? These questions I leave to you my readers.

I think they should. Marijuana is no different from alcohol. IMO it is better. Unlike alcohol, marijuana doesn’t give you those god awful mood swings. They could legalize it if they wanted to it is just the fact the government can’t figure out a way to tax it and make money off of it because people could grow their own. I think the growing license it a good idea. That way the greedy government could still make a pretty penny off of it.
The same laws would apply like alcohol. -No coming into work stoned.
-Set a age limit like we have with alcohol. Though of course there would still be underage smoking. But you can’t control that like you can’t with cigarettes and alcohol.
-When selling in stores ID minors just like with alcohol.
-No driving stoned. If you get caught you get a DUI like alcohol.
You can treat the two the same way when setting laws. It is simple and better for you. Also with the whole lazy thing….. Alcohol does the same thing.
The main reason they don’t legalize is because no matter what scheme they come up with to tax it they’ll still make far less than what they do on it now. Currently the government can arrest you and fine you which makes them money. They can also seize your stash and resell it to other countries for it just to be smuggled back in. Those two things alone bring in more money than any reasonable license could.
Another reason why its not legal is because in the past Marijuana wasn’t a widely used drug. In fact it got its start by being used by only the slums of society. That is why it was unlegalized. Once the drug became more widely popular no one thought to change the law because it was already bringing in money that the government depended upon.
I also agree that Alcohol is much worse than Marijuana. From all of the accounts I’ve read I’ve never heard of anyone dry heaving off of Marijuana. Or smoking so much they can’t recall what they did the night before.
Americans will always be lazy rocks that sit and watch television all day whether drugs are involved or not…its the American way!!! BTW I’m not trying to start and flame wars…I am American myself, born and raised here.
