The question I pose today is what if technology was destroyed? We all rely on technology in one way or another. We rely on the news from our television to give us the weather and our vehicles to get us to and from work. We even use technology to do most business nowadays whether its with a blackberry or managing team projects through task management software. We NEED technology whether we like it or not… not because we can’t survive with it inherently as human beings but because we have become so dependent on it as a society of civilized people.
Now lets say one day an EMP large enough to spread over the whole world was released and it took out all the technology that runs off of computers and microchips. Lets say that now anything that deals with electronics is fried to the core. How would we cope with this sudden change in our lifestyle? How would we adapt to such an extreme change? What would our lifestyle convert to without these dependancies? These questions I leave to you my readers.

3/4 of the peopel workign today would either be out of a job or would be having alot harder time at their job tech is the best
This is a quite interesting topic. I have used this basic idea for a book a few years back. A few things could happen. 50-70% of the worlds population would now unemployed, riots and chaos would be unleashed throughout the land. Gangs and organized crime groups would rise up and start to take charge of areas across cities and anarchist will gather from around the world. Big Brother will bring about martial law and allow his pawns to use deadly force upon the frantic, chaotic mass of people in an attempt to “restore” order or maybe use this as a chance to reveal our new leader, and dictator. However, the people will never willingly surrender to this tyrant. But if all our guns are taken before this EMP goes off how do you plan on fighting against the NWO?
Technology has helped and also harmed mankind, but I think we have become so dependent upon it, it would throw people into panic mode. Although technology has done wonders in some areas, it has also deprived us of our natural connections with each other and the earth. I am talking about that “6th sense” that people used to use to find food and water and instincts as well as common sense have been diluted as machines do so much of the dirty work for us these days. Probably would be a lot of deaths as a result. Not too many people know how to live off the land, survival would for sure depend upon our ability to go back to our ancient roots. Total loss of technology would ultimately mean death, even the earliest of civilizations used some form of technology to survive. Loss of modern technology would just zap us of a lot of modern day conveniences and force us to rely on basic instincts as well as common sense. Technology has also played a part in stupefying people… LOL I mean, there are tags on clothes irons telling people “not to use on body” I mean come on… someone out there would actually attempt this? As the great Mind of Mencia would say, Dee Dee Dee
Humans had gotten fine without much technology for centuries. It would take a big adjustment (because we have become too dependent on technology), but we’ll get through it.
…if technology was destroyed, we’d all be naked.
Once when I was a kid I programmed a computer game on my old 8-bit computer, when there was a blackout, and I lost all my code (back then, you had to backup on tape, which I was too lazy to always do in time).
When the power was back up, I rebuilt the program from memory, and I’m sure it was a better game because of it. The code and execution became much cleaner and direct, because I had to write everything in before forgetting the idea and structure.
I imagine something like this will be true of electrical power, computers and the internet. It will be one of the best things which could happen for the internet, because we’ll get a much cleaner and more thought-through architecture after the war (if this was the case).
But of course… it’s a scary scenario to think about. But if there is such an attack, war or dangerous situation – we’ll have more urgent things to think about than keeping our data.
